The human being was designed with an integrated flowing kinetic chain, athletically dynamic and explosive, impressionable, adaptable, and intended for survival, free play, and self exploring. The human body was skillfully wrought and authentically designed to use a precise and rhythmic combination of strength (total body functional), stability, mobility, balance, (MOSTRANCE: MObility + STRength + STability + balANCE) power, coordination, ryhthm, and endurance for recreation/adventure/exploring, survival, and occupation.
Movement heals. The human body was designed athletic, adaptive, and competitive with the ability to heal itself (with or without surgical intervention) at the cellular level relative to the patient's unique pathological condition. Our goal is to maximize outcomes and performance by eliminating the root of pathology and reprogramming integrated movement responses through the motor learning, development, and control process in order to regenerate skilled performance at the highest possible level.
In order to MAXIMIZE OUTCOMES, Performance Physical Therapy is movement based and is customized to the patient, not a protocol and is progressively adaptive in nature specific to the neuroplasticity and healing processes. Performance based rehab is as aggressively movement based and dynamic as we can make it given the current healing process status, root of the patient's pathological condition, chronicity of condition, health and lifestyle status, and history as a mover.
Functional assessments provide understanding on how to establish customized movement blueprints, a personal regimen and specific movement progressions used to significantly advance and optimize one's genetic potential. I assess fundamental skill sequencing with a variety of individually specific and advanced technically progressive hybrid movement pattern progressions with a variety of loadings/resistance, in a variety of dimensions, with a variety of movement combination in order to authenticate movement performance thresholds and performance. Every assessment is a movement pattern and every movement pattern is an assessment.
Transformational zones are specific to functional tasks and are major loading points in functional skills. Transformational zones are what we assess, because they are where injuries take place.
Hitting, pitching, throwing, running transformational zones will be video analyzed from previous footage coordinated with your organization's video department and will continue to be assessed, treated, loaded up, functional manual therapy applied and facilitated throughout the Physical Therapy process to optimize regeneration and genetic potential. Transformational zones drastically change as a result of integrated movement sequencing improving.
We seek to make mechanical changes and take athletes through the overhaul transformational process by improving athleticism via fundamental skill development, conditioning, learning and practice via organized self exploration and simplifying the task by facilitating a subconscious, reactive response. Mechanical impairments and compensation patterns are symptoms rooted in some form of fundamental skill deficit and compensation. From a functional medicine perspective we understand that issues we would like resolved mechanically will never take place if we don't have an athlete that's well conditioned and that's not moving efficiently. I emphasize always personal success, personal strategies in optimizing performance. Mechanical focus creates slow, unresponsive, impaired performance drastically affecting performance.
The science of how targeted nutrition and specific nutrients can optimize expression of our genes, which in turn, can influence the expression of health conditions and disease.
GENETIC EXPRESSION is the way your genes express themselves in response to our environment, diet, sleep, lifestyle, physical activity, and mindset.
The healthy dynamic integration of one's Innate and Adaptive Immune Systems and Microbiome will dictate one's ability to repeat and optimize physical performance, fight of the pathological process and facilitate the naturally occurring regeneration process. We seek to optimize immune function as the body's naturally occurring defense system.
We put on our creative imagination station hats and intervene with positive, productive, and effective visualization strategies as a means to build confidence, have "practice" away from the field in preparation for our work at the yard, build self reflection time on body awareness, develop an better understanding of sensation of touch and feel and body position, body motion cues that we should feel amidst performance and our transformational zones to express optimal function.
We develop and use strategic verbal cues as a strategy to keep the game and performance simple, to stay process oriented, to stay goal oriented for our successes, to keep the emphasis on aggressive performance instead of bogged down isolated mechanical conscious sequencing process. Verbal cues highlight the process, consolidates the technicality of movement sequencing, keeps us goal oriented to the process, and directs a combination of sense of feel and movement performance in order to stay focused on one effort at a time.
MISSION:
OBJECTIVES, EXPECTATIONS, SOLUTIONS for each PLAYER:
Evidenced based practice, openers, pitch counts, protocols, non-contact injuries, cadaver anatomy, “injury prevention”, fake science institutes, the trade of self-exploring/trouble shooting, helicopter coaching, and money ball.
How higher education hijacked MLB & MILB, infiltrated the game with feminism and fear, neutered men…stole their testosterone, mutated tough/rugged/masculine DNA with soft fragile factory protocols via intellectual elitism, implement a play “defensive” means of preparing and playing while desperately attempting to cancel manliness and its bravery in place of obedience.
MLB today:
Today we have more medicine, science, research, and technology than ever before. MLB organizations have spent millions of dollars pouring funding into developing fake science labs to "prepare" athletes better, to "analyze" their movements, and have developed several other major league coaching positions and minor league coordinator positions on the front of assistant coaches, game strategists, and quality control coaches. As progress has it in the naturally occurring advancement of human progress as part of the learning process, common sense would and should lead players, coaches, and a fan base to question if as a whole players and organizations have gotten any better, if they are at less risk of injury and spend less time on the Injury List (they don't, they number continues to sky rocket yearly), are performing better, and if the game of baseball from a skill set perspective is better.
In today's MLB/MILB, every step of a player's day is planned out. There’s very little control they have over what they can do and when they want to do it without being told what to do. “OVER STRUCTURED”, they can’t think for themselves, unable to self-coach and make adjustments, unable to perform activities independently without having to tell someone what they did and being told quickly not to do that. If we have more science, research, medicine, and technology than ever before and many more coaches used for "development", "game management", to help "prepare", and "analyze", shouldn't we have fewer injuries and shouldn't performance be better? We don't have fewer injuries, in fact the game of baseball continues to progressively set yearly records with Injury List time and incidents of major injuries requiring surgical intervention. Players are spending fewer days out on the field for actual live BP and pregame activities. They're leaving the clubhouse's climate controlled air conditioning less and less for skill work and conditioning, more than ever before. We have starting pitchers that are pulled after two innings of work, outrageous pitch count meters, and now openers. Coincidentally the game of baseball today has the most de-conditioned players mentally, emotionally, and physically. Lack of preparation has become the PANDEMIC. WHY?
Culturally we're living in a time in which we have the most sedentary, inactive, de-conditioned society of young adults and kids in the history of our country and civilization. The obsession with "travel ball" has developed unidimensional athletes unable to be athletic and make adjustments, over trained, over worked, pattern overloaded with slow methodical, cookie cutter mechanics. The current culture of technological fixation, poor sleep patterns, poor nutritional intake has developed a pandemic of unfit creatures that are able to successfully evolve and survive the elements outside of the 70 degree climate control setting of being indoors. We have educational systems teaching kids what to think, not how to think.
Although the Ivy league influence is relatively newer to the game, the "money ball" approach is not. The game of baseball has become a SABERMETRIC THINK TANK in which every player is now a number forced to behave within the boxed in framework of statistically relevant patterns only, no longer relying upon and trusting one's skill set. A cookie cutter, one size fits all, lack of individual value system has been developed. WHY? Control, fear, lack of accountability. It's easy on all fronts to use the Evidenced Based Practice approach. There's no accountability involved, but has all authority without the opportunity for any questions asked. Fear and control drives these dictators. When one fears loosing their job (coach, coordinator, medical and training staff member), lacks an understanding of physiology and activity intervention thresholds and volume and its influencing in stimulating adaptation and performance, and true player development from the perspective of daily preparation you will have "leaders" behave in these manners. There's no need to have accountability for anything you suggest when there's a one size fits all protocol to recommend and prescribe. When something goes wrong, it makes it easy to state that you were just following protocol and that's how things are done so that you don't loose your job. The injuries are the symptoms. A problem will never be fixed treating the symptoms, because they're just the symptoms, not the root of the pathology, compensations, limitation, and dysfunction.
The PHARMA "pill for an ill" EVIDENCE BASED APPROACHES are widely used on the medical, rehab, training, and strength and conditioning side of implementation. It's hard to be accountable for what you do when you're relying upon an industry "standard", a one size fits all approach. It's impossible to believe strategies from that implementation mindset would actually work, but "professional" continue to act out/behave in the form of their skill set with what they know. Anyone at anytime should be able to stand and provide a solid physiological basis for what they're doing in place of a regurgitated Evidenced Based Practice highlight as to what is done today. The fear of loosing one's job because of providing information, changing techniques, or exercises for a player and the infatuation of playing it safe in order to not have one's very limited skill set exposed are mediocre, minimum wage mindset plagues within the game. Fear is how organizations, coaching staff members, and medical staff members operate. With the fear of loosing one's job, comes the duty to document everything a player does. The helicopter Mom, nanny state.
Gone is self experimentation, self learning, being self made. Gone is free play and replaced with soft, fragile men under prepared, de-conditioned, unable/not encouraged/not challenged to work. We have MLB players that very infrequently leave the climate controlled club houses of video games and technology in fear that someone may get hurt taking ground balls, throwing, taking BP on the field because it's too much for the body stepping outdoors on the nicest grass surfaces in the world to sweat and be pushed while honing a craft. Strikeouts are at all time highs, it used to be shameful to strike out 50-60 times in a season, players are now doing that monthly. Teams now have openers because pitchers can't last throwing 50 pitches, fear of injury. Fielding and errors are at all time highs. Situational baseball IQ's and movement IQ's within the game are at the maturity level of 5th graders.
The Evidenced Based Practice (research world) emphatically declares that knowledge is power, trust the science and the statistics. Indeed numbers emphatically don't lie. Those that declare such dialogue within organizations easily have exemption because they are just "following the research". There's unlimited authority and no accountability. A player no longer has any control over their own body and what they can do to prepare. The evolution of non-contact injuries, protocols for rehab, PREHAB/INJURY PREVENTION (busy work to push a player through a season without getting one better) is and has been institutionally driven by individuals with pieces of paper lacking common sense.
There is a tremendous amount of weight and fear instilled in those that are not obedient to research protocols, stats, data, and the control of PHARMA, special interest groups and their impact on outcomes, performance. Basic truth based physiology is not present because it's not understood and it's not practiced. The injury pandemic is due to controlled, safe, mediocre, factory, minimum wage mindsets making soft, fragile, de-conditioned men that are asked to use their body in competition to perform physically and mentally at a high level and repeatedly that are no longer prepared. A big cultural shift to inactivity, fear of injury/fear of having players do anything, 1 sport athletes, being told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it has all but made the self made, self taught/coached athletic extinct.
Maximizing human performance, maximizing outcomes, and optimizing genetic potential with integrated movement strategies and fundamental skill development.
